When George Clooney bought a home in Italy, he went to Berlitz Language Learning to learn Italian so that he can communicate with the natives. I wanted to speak Spanish with family and friends so I though it was time to learn my native language so I chose Berlitz because I wanted to learn Spanish quickly. Berlitz teaches their student’s a new language the same way one would learn their native language—naturally. 

I worked with a wonderful personal instructor named Angelica who was so patient and encouraging. We spoke Spanish for 2 1/2 hours of conversational styles instruction. This method immersed me in speaking Spanish and made learning easy to absorb. Each instructor is a native-fluent speaker who focuses on the practical grammar and vocabulary you’ll use in everyday situations.

Although I’ve been able to get by with the little Spanish I know, it’s been very frustrating not knowing what mistakes I’ve been making. I felt embarrassed that I wasn’t speaking correctly, but Angelica said, “That’s why I’m here to correct you—don’t feel embarrassed.” After that, I let myself speak and learn.

I learned so much in one session because we went over words and phrases again and again in different sentences. I am now confident in simple everyday dialogue: introducing myself; asking various every day questions at a place of business, school or ordering at a restaurant and more. But the most important thing  I’ve learned in speaking Spanish is learning verbs and their tense. Once this is learned, putting sentences together was simple, but using the language everyday is the key.

Massage Therapist - Loren Stiteler

  Loren Stiteler grew fascinated with Alternative Medicine at an early age through his father’s healing practice of traditional oriental medicine. Don’t let his young age fool you as he is years older in spirit with a wealth of knowledge on the science of the body.

“My father is an Acupuncturist and has been working with Oriental Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, and Homeopathy for over 30 years. I grew up around eastern medicine and, to me, it’s something that’s very normal,” said Loren.

Loren studied Philosophy at  Humbolt State University. Thereafter, he trained at the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing in 2009 and is certified in Massage Therapy. His skill is like no other. He uses many techniques, but my favorite is Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage. I love that he makes house calls because I can continue to enjoy my relaxation after my massage, instead of having to drive home.

Before the massage, Loren will ask questions about your discomfort so he can determine the proper modalities to use. During the massage, you can disrobe entirely or leave your underwear on if you’re more comfortable that way. He will ensure that the only part of the body that is uncovered is the body part that is being massaged. You will lay on his massage table underneath the sheets. From then on, he begins using a massage oil and starts his healing.

Loren will explain what’s going on with the body so clients understand how he’s relieving pain. He uses fantastic gliding strokes and stretches the muscles with care.

I have fibromyalgia and I experience daily chronic pain. For weeks, I had a stiff neck that would not loosen until I had a few sessions with him. I felt a healing energy connection that I’ve never experienced because he wants to help people feel better. 

He will find the pockets of tight muscles I wasn’t even aware that need care. Soon my troubles begin to fade away and my mental clarity is improved. My overused muscles are relaxed with increased circulation and a glow in my skin. My spasms and cramping are gone and I have increased joint flexibility. Loren is helpful in explaining why the stiffness was caused and advised me what I can do to prevent the injury again.

Fibromyalgia patients are sensitive to the touch and he was wonderful in alleviating my pain resulting in better range of motion.

“I was trained to heal the body, not to cause it brutal pain by digging into the muscles. Deep tissue massage is helpful without being forceful and painful.  The muscle fibers can be overworked and lead to scarring and damaging to the tissue which could actually do more harm than good,” said Loren.

 Another client couldn’t believe how wonderful he felt after a session with Loren.

“I’ve never felt like this before! It’s like a transcendental feeling! I feel more balanced and alive, yet tranquil! My normal state is to be tense!”

The young massage therapist is excellent at his job and it will help him be a superior health practioneer. He’s attending Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine–a school of Chinese Medicine in Los Angeles. The school specializes in acupuncture and herbal medicine, preparing students for a Master of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine degree. It is most well-known for its Qi (Chi) Development Program, which is integrated into the core curriculum. The university’s clinic is the largest of its kind in Los Angeles and offers care to the community.
